Name: Amaha Masane

Masane is the protagonist of the series, the current wielder of the Witchblade,
and Rihoko's mother. Clumsy, airheaded, immature, and a little spoiled, Masane often
behaves more like a child than her daughter, despite her role as the mother. She is
stubborn and a little rude, and likes to drink, though she is not able to handle her
liquor very well. However, for all her faults, she is a very sweet, loving mother, and
cherishes Rihoko more than anything - she often refers to her daughter as the only
good thing she ever did.
Masane lost her memories six years prior to the start of the story, after being
discovered with Rihoko near ground zero of the catastrophic even that destroyed most of
Tokyo. Though she had trouble at first adjusting to the thought of being Rihoko's mother
(she didn't feel as though the child was "hers"), they soon bonded, and Rihoko became
an invaluable part of Masane's world.

Masane's smart, spunky, and capable little daughter, Rihoko makes up for her mother's
ditziness by being the responsible caretaker of the two. She cooks, shops, and keeps
house while her mother works, and even tends to her during her hangovers. It was Rihoko
who got the apartment she shares with her mother, by tricking the apartment manager,
Mariko-san, into thinking she had leased it out to a buisness.
Though she recognizes her faults, Rihoko dearly loves her mother, and wants more
than anything just to live in peace with her. However, her devotion runs so deep that
she would willingly sacrifice her own happiness for Masane's.
