A Fanlisting?
[A fanlisting is] simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join."--The Fanlistings.org This fanlisting is for episode 25 of Hagaren, or Fullmetal Alchemist, Wakare no Gishiki, or "Words of Farewell", approved by The Fanlistings' sister site, The Anime Fanlistings. Why Episode 25?
This episode has always been my favorite of Fullmetal, even though pretty much every episode is
fantastic in its own way. But I'm a sucker for depressing, tear-jerking stuff, and this is about as
depressing as it gets (yet still hilariously funny, as well - at least, in the beginning). When I first
watched this episode, I was not expecting Hughes to die, and I really hated that he did, because he
was (and is, still) my favorite character in the series. I thought I'd hate the episode afterwards, but
the opposite is true, because Hughes' death was handled in such sad, heartbreaking, and, oddly, sweet,
way. His funeral (along with his last goodnight with Elysia), is probably one of the most touching
scenes in the entire series, mostly because of Hughes' daughter, Elysia, and how strange it is to see
Armstrong, and later, Mustang, cry. And, of course, the last scene, where Hughes waves goodbye to Ed
from the train station platform, is an appropriately touching ending for this fantastic episode. :)
