If Dreams Came True is a beautiful song from the anime series AIR - the vocal-less piano intro and melody appear a few times in the anime series (as the song Futari, on the AIR TV OST), but the song only appears in its complete form in the AIR feature movie (and as such, is only featured on the AIR Movie OST). The song is performed by Kawai Eri, with lyrics by Linda Hennrick, and music by Haneoka Kei.why?
a short rant... AIR is one of those series that really stands out for its beautiful and emotional music, both instrumental and vocal. But even by those standards, If Dreams Came True is one of the best. The melody, from the first note to the last, is sad, but so clear and beautiful, and the lyrics are such a moving mix of hopefulness and regret. Bittersweet desires and dreams are laid out in the verse, about flying away into the sky, and being with the one you love forever, only to be negated by the last line, ."...if dreams came true". To me, it is a sentiment that best expresses AIR as a series - the characters have wishes, desires to be with the people they love, but for various reasons, most never can be, and so they are left just wishing that this could happed "if dreams came true." |
